Male Health Review
Improve your male health with natural solutions
Peyronie’s disease is the growth of plaque in the tunica albuginea of the penis, generally on one side. The development of this fibrous scar tissue inside your penis is what causes it to become curved – and this can lead to painful and otherwise uncomfortable erections. Additionally – Erectile dysfunction and anxiety about sexual performance are also common in people with Peyronie’s. This plaque growth is uncommon, and only affects about 5% of men – and generally is diagnosed when the penis has reached the point of having a dramatic “angle” of a curve. A small handful from the group will have this disease go away on it’s own, and others may experience no change at all. But for most cases it will progress. If the bend reaches a point of preventing sexual interaction, then it has become severe enough to seek immediate medical treatment. What Causes Peyronie’s Disease?Peyronie’s disease is not yet completely understood, but what is understood is that there are several factors that play a role in the fibrous tissue development. It was typically thought the cause was the results of multiple repeated injuries to the penis from athletic, sexual activities, etc… This could explain why the majority of men cannot recall a traumatic event occurring – because often times the experience could have been a pleasurable one. Effects are not felt right away, it isn’t until the healing process begins that scar tissue starts to form. Once healed the scar tissue is formed, this presents the possibilities leading to the lumpy nodule felt beneath the skin, causing a curvature to develop. Some clinicians are researching the possibilities of it being linked to inherited traits or certain health conditions versus only being trauma to the penis. The Symptoms of Peyronie’s DiseasePeyronie’s disease symptoms might seem to appear overnight or could develop over time. Some of most commonly seen symptoms & signs include:
Achieving an erection – Peyronie’s vs No-Peyronie’sOn either sides of the penis there are what is called corpus cavernosum, which contains a sponge-like tube that holds an immense amount of tiny blood vessels. Each one of these tubes is lined in a sheath of elastic tissue (tunica albuginea), which is what stretches during an erection. In a normal penis without peyronie’s, sexual stimulation leads to blood flow filling these chambers and, as they begin to engorge, the penile tissue expands, straightens, and hardens- until fully erect. But in Peyronie’s Disease, this process is retarded. Instead, while the penis becomes erect it bends, or causes a painful sensation. This is a result of the scar tissue formation, and can prevent the tissue from stretching where the nodule formed. Peyronie’s Disease Risk Factors to be Aware ofAn injury to the penis doesn’t always result in Peyronie’s Disease. But there are some things that can help a minor penis injury develop into something more serious. There are various factors that can help in the aiding of peyronie’s disease, contributions that lead to poor healing and scar tissue buildup. Some things to be aware of :
Complications That Can AriseSome of the complications that you might see from the result of Peyronie’s Disease:
Diagnosis and treatment options of Peyronie’s DiseaseTesting for Peyronie’s disease might include:
Treatments and drugsProbably the easiest of all them is the “sit and wait game” most often than not the doctors will have you wait and see if it gets any better over a period of time before offering a surgical or otherwise medical solution. But if the scar tissue progresses, and you experience personal issues like sex no longer being achievable, then surgery may be suggested. MedicationThere is only one medication that’s approved by the FDA in the treatment of Peyronie’s disease, and it is meant to decrease the existing scar tissue(plaque) formation and minimize the curvature of the penis. It’s called Xiaflex and it meant for men with at least a 30 degree curvature during an erection. This treatment works by breaking the buildup of collagen that caused penile curvature. It isn’t all cakewalk though, it does involve a series injections that will have to be performed by your physician. The injections have to administered directly into the penile lump\scar tissues, and you will also be required to perform short set of exercises to help gently stretch and straighten the penis. SurgeryMost doctors stray away from surgery during the early stages of Peyronie’s disease, experts strongly recommend avoiding surgery in the early inflammatory phase. There are some special cases where your doctor might suggest surgery, some examples being if the deformity of your penis is severe, especially painful, or is preventing you from having sexual intercourse. Surgery typically isn’t recommended until the increasing curvature of your penis comes to a stop. Surgical methods include:
Penis ExtendersPenis extenders are an alternative therapy for Peyronie’s disease, especially if surgery is not an option due to health risks involved. Penis extenders work by the continuous tension on the penis that’s provided by the device while wearing it. This method does require you put in some hours though, and by that I mean it is required to be worn for 6 hours a day, and some extenders on the market aren’t the easiest to wear as far as comfort level goes. The idea behind penis extenders working is due to constant pulling of the penis, which causes continuous tension on the penis to straighten and improve without the risks of losing size or worsening penile functions. Medical Report on Penis ExtendersA study was done penis extenders they had 15 people try extenders for 12 months at 6 hours a day, there recorded results at 1,3,6 and 12 months they found penile curvature decreased from an average of 31 to 27 degrees at 6 months. And an increase of the penis size all the way around. Measurements taken when penis is flaccid at 6 months, length increase by 1.3 and girth 0.83cm. All results were maintained at 12 months. Since after publishing that report, there has been a new type of extender to hit the market and it is called the Phallosan Forte. This penis extender stands apart from the old types in two very big way as far as helping the on going battle in correcting the Peyronie’s disease. The first being it is completely flexible, so much in fact you can actually wear this to work and no one notice or visible be able to tell. This aspect is great because you can invest the time wearing comfortably and it allows you to dictate the time of day you want to wear it. So a lot more freedom with product. The 2nd reasoning is kind of a piggy back on the first, and it is the ability of this extender to create tension horizontally and vertically. Giving you a full range of stretching your penis, so no matter the direction of the curve you’ll be able to point into the opposite direction. Summary Medical report on one man’s experience with Phallosan ForteA man with peyronie’s disease had an extreme case with a 90 degree angle, making this curvature impossible to have sexual intercourse.
He was against getting any surgery producers done, so his doctor decided to try the Phallosan Forte and came up with a treatment plan for him. After 3 months of use, pulling the penis in the opposite direction of the curve, results showed great improvement with the angle of deviation at 60 degrees. With 6 months of use the deviation was measured at 30 degrees, allowing him to once again able to engage in pleasurable sexually activities. The long term results are still not known because the study is still ongoing and will published in a medical journal. So at this time they are unable to say if the results are permanent or if needed maintenance therapy is required.
